Mobile Point of Sale functionality will enable retailers to engage today's online savvy customers who are in their stores. By automating best practices for customer engagement across the organization, retailers can help maximize sales associate productivity. First and foremost, transaction enablement by store associate is required. Ability to leverage available inventory across multiple channels including stores and online to a shopper is a critical success criteria. In order to be successful in delivering this feature is to process and manage orders placed online and offline. Powerful Mobile Point of Sale also act as a clienteling application to engage more traffice to stores and increase order value.

Process

Starting with use cases to cover 360 degree view of problems, solutions, and ideas. While conducting competitive analysis and stakeholders meeting to find the business goals, I then filter and group thoughts based on categories and features. This gives good idea on how to architect and design features to identify problems and possible solutions and features to remedy those problems. The key ideas that developed through brainstorming can be seen fleshed out in the sketches and low-fi and High-fi wireframes and prototypes below. When the ideas flushed out, functional requirements is accompanied by user flow diagram, wireframes, prototypes while interative reviews are conducted with product manager, development team members, and clients.

Sketching & Ideation

After doing extensive brainstorming, I draw quick iterative sketches and jot down rough notes alongside them to begin fleshing out features and ideas.

Wireframe

I create wireframes as a way to focus on only the necessary information, strategy, and elements that are needed to achieve the design’s purpose for the user. This is also a good way to start developing a structure for the design that can then be built upon when working on visuals.

Designed for the needs of the rapidly growing retailer, MarketLive’s Mobile POS is a tablet-based point-of-sale (POS) application providing in-store sales associates access to all the digital capabilities of the MarketLive Commerce Platform, giving them a powerful selling tool to service customers in-aisle and offering customers a taste of the digital store of the future.
